A Warning to Motorists

Nottinghamshire Police are urging motorists to ensure their vehicles are secure and items are hidden from display after thieves struck 11 times in four days.

Vans and cars in Sutton-in-Ashfield and Kirkby-in-Ashfield were targeted between Thursday 28 July and Sunday 31 July.

In the first incident, tools and a petrol generator were stolen from van parked in Abbey Road, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, after offenders broke the lock to get inside.

Satellite navigation systems were also snatched from vehicles in Gresham Close and Fackley Road, in Sutton-in-Ashfield, and Chartwell Road, in Kirkby-in-Ashfield. In seven of the incidents, thieves smashed windows before searching inside.

Police Patrols have been increased in the area and officers are warning motorists to ensure their vehicles are locked and that items are not left on show.

The Police are asking businesses and residents in the area to report any suspicious activity. Members of the Nunn Brook and Low Moor Rd BusinessWatch schemes are also asked to report any suspicious activity to BusinessWatch in order that other members can be kept informed.
