Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce is working in partnership with the British Chambers of Commerce on a national drive to combat metal theft following a sharp rise.
Latest official figures estimate that the theft of lead, copper and other metals has cost the UK more than £360m in the last two years, not to mention the devastating impact it can have on businesses.
Metal theft is becoming the latest crime trend affecting businesses, with lead being taking from roofs and internet cabling being stolen, leaving companies without telephone, fax or email and internet access. A rise in the worldwide price of copper, lead and other non-ferrous metals has led to the dramatic increase.
If your business has been affected by metal theft and you would like to be part of a national drive to combat it, please contact Gareth Elliott at the BCC by emailing G.Elliott@britishchambers.org.uk
