News for businesses with 4x4 vehicles

Derbyshire Constabulary and Chesterfield Football Club are joining forces to help protect owners of 4x4 vehicles.

The initiative is aimed at reducing the number of thefts of and from 4x4s following an increase in reported incidents across north Derbyshire .

An event offering free property marking kits to all 4x4 owners is being held at the B2net stadium on Saturday 14th January between 10am and 2pm .

Police will be protectively marking all vehicles on the day with SelectaDNA which places a unique forensic code on items making it easy for the police to detect stolen vehicles, parts and property.

Officers from the local Safer Neighbourhood team and community safety will demonstrate how the product works and offer other crime prevention and security advice to 4x4 owners.

There will be a free prize draw including two tracker devices with installation and a five year subscription, donated by TRACKER Network (UK) and the North East Derbyshire Community Safety Partnership, and two tickets to a Chesterfield FC match, donated by the club.

PC Lee Oldham, who is taking part in the initiative, said: "By using SelectaDNA we're sending a clear message to criminals who are targeting 4x4 vehicles for parts or for the vehicle itself. Criminals need to be aware that if they target vehicles that are fitted with SelectaDNA they face a far greater risk of being caught."
