Are you prepared for unwanted visitors?

During July BusinessWatch received numerous calls from Businesses concerned about unwanted visitors and suspicious activity. These are distributed to other members in the local area to help them be prepared

Each visit could be a potential threat to you, are you prepared?

Your business should have adequate security procedures in place and all staff should be aware of them and be conscious of their contribution to the security of your business.

The security measures may be simple procedures but should include such as:

  • Securing your Business premises
  • Protect your assets
  • Access management and how to deal with visitors
  • Confirm the identities of all visitors
  • Encouraging staff to be vigilant
  • Be aware of strangers or unwanted visitors
  • Keeping vehicles and stock inside at night and weekends
  • Where possible remove the opportunity
  • Storing equipment securely
  • Ensure nothing is left out when not in use.
  • IT security and back up
  • Protect against virus, data loss and fraud
  • Staff security and safety
  • Lone working, cash handling, late working and travel

The Business Security Team at Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber share information with BusinessWach, ShopWatch and RadioWatch members and the Police.

Information provided by the police is disseminated to Watch members.

In addition to the e-mail sharing of intelligence the http://www.businesswatch.org/  now has a new facility for members to enter details of suspicious activity for retention and access by BusinessWatch members.
